More kisses? More kisses. Kel's expression after them is a mix of joy and eagerness- no, more smooches will come later, now they have to eat and them have a possibly productive afternoon, right? He's not a child who cannot contain his own excitement.
"And your happiness is one of the most important things to me." A wink in Basil's direction "Up there right with Orange Joe and my Ma's chimichangas." A joke, of course, he values Basil a lot more than food or a lot of other things. Heh... he can't believe how long it took them to figure things out but now he's not planning to hold things back anymore.
"You did? that's nice!" He smiles widely in the other's direction "I actually wanted to get a few things myself but I wanted your opinion about it first and-" He's holding up the seitan dish with mittens, ready to bring it to the table, when the other drops... that bomb?
Kel blinks in confusion. He doesn't know who all of Basil's new friends are, so the fact he's giving this Omori a cat doesn't really bother him. he did the same with Basil, after all, when they weren't together yet. It's such a nice gesture of the other, he's always so sweet but...
"Who?" He sounds slightly concerned, there. The Photo album has always been important to them all and he can't imagine how Aubrey will react when... well, when she'll find out Basil gave it to a random person in the city. "Well, it's yours to begin with, but are you sure? I mean, I'm not entirely sure how looking at pictures of people this Sunny doesn't know can cheer them up? Still, if that's what you want to do... you have my support."
Basil was in the middle of bringing the glasses to the table when Kel responds, and he barely realizes when they slip out of his hand. What?
What... what? What did he mean that he forgot Sunny? Why did he say that like he had never met him? Was this what Kel went through when Basil thought Mari was alive? But, this doesn't feel the same. Basil doesn't know why he feels the way he does -- why his stomach is twisting and his throat is in knots.
His hands are trembling as he looks to the ground below him, the glass that shattered near his feet.
"A-Ah! Sorry! I'm sorry!" He's panicking, absolutely - but he's quickly moving to grab a broom.
He hears the crash and instinctively turn around to look at the other.
"... babe?"
He blinks, trying to take in the situation and leaves the pot in a safe spot to move toward the other. This is definitely not a normal reaction to just dropping a glass on the floor, nope. But... why? He looks more confused than anything else as he tries to pick the broom from the other's hands.
"It's okay... it's okay, Basil. Give it to me, I got this, mh? It's just a glass, we can get more..." Nope, the other is panicking. "Hey... look at me. We can breathe together, right?"
The last thing he wanted was for basil to get hurt with random glass bits. Oh, wait.. he maybe... what if he started to freak out before dropping the glass itself? He doesn't know what triggered this but...
Basil shakes his head, taking a step back. His hands are shaking when Kel takes the broom from hims, gripping tightly at the ends of his shirt.
"S-Sunny is... Sunny is our best friend, Kel...!" He's tensed up, attempting to breathe in on his own. "We all knew each other back at home! Y-You remember when we used to be with everyone, don't you? I know that this place has been really cruel lately, making us forget things, but... this is even meaner..."
It's as though the hole there that shouldn't be. He can't tell Sunny that this happened, he just can't. He'd be absolutely heartbroken... And, Basil knows that he's already heartbroken enough as it is.
Oh. Oh. Oh no... Basil is dealing with even more fake memories now? Kel knows for a fact there has never been any 'Sunny' around, what kind of stupid name is that anyway? What next? Cloudy and Rainy too? But he had to at least pretend he could follow this for his beloved's sake, right?
"Is he?" Nope, Sunny is literally no one. "I... can't say I remember. But this place is messing around with our heads, right? I'm certain I will remember if you believe it's... true." He offers his hands after taking both mittens away and pushing at least the biggest shards to the side with the broom, just to avoid incidents.
"I... don't know? You can start telling me who he is?" He steps closer, trying to caress the other's cheek. "Basil, look at me. Whatever is wrong here, we'll fix it, okay?" He just has to see where this ghost of a person is in Basil's memories and try to.... bring him back to reality as he already did before.
Basil hopes that he can help Kel remember - sooner, rather than later. He flinches when Kel reaches for his cheek, shaking his head again. He was too upset right now, too scared to accept the other's affection.
"You remember Mari, don't you? B-Back before we even became friends.... You and Sunny were close. He's been here with us the entire time."
Basil reaches for his device then, getting to his photos. At the least, he's... only taken the one photo with Sunny. It doesn't take him long to get to it at all.
Basil doesn't even want to be touched. Kel takes half a step back, wanting to respect the other's space but growing increasingly concerned about this entire... situation.
"Of course I remember Mari!" His almost sister. The first victim of Something. He will never forget her. "Basil... I... you were the one I've always been close with when we were kids. I had plenty of friends but... you were the one I was closer to."
They were a pure case of 'childhood friends to boyfriends', there was no one else in their group that was their age beside Aubrey. He still allows the other to get his phone and peeks in. The color completely drains from his face when his eyes meet a familiar, horrible black shape on the screen and he has to push down the fear, the uneasiness, why is a photo of Something on Basil's phone? He doesn't feel hungry anymore as he turns to look at his boyfriend.
Good. Good, he remembers Mari. Basil would feel heartbroken if that wasn't the case. He isn't sure what he would do. He'd find some way to remind him, a way to refresh his memories in any way that he could - just as Kel did for him.
But, what he's saying is wrong. They were all close to Sunny. Sunny was their friend. Kel always paid the most attention to him more than anyone else, just as Aubrey and Mari were especially close to one another.
But then, Kel looks almost terrified when he responds to the picture, and Basil quickly pulls the photo back, taking in a sharp breath. He sees Sunny. There was no denying that. What did Kel--....
"W... What... do--" He scared to ask. His heart is pounding his chest. He swallows.
Of course he remembers Mari! Mari was the heart of their group, with her smile she was able to brighten any room. He could still remember Hero's smiles when she was around, the world was such a differenti place. God, he missed how the world used to be. But there's no magical clock to rewind things and... looking at Basil? Some things are worth living in the present for.
But now that question. He doesn't want to upset the other. They both already suffered enough de to that thing but.. if it's really there they have to be careful. He looks at the other put away his phone and sighs. to think they were planning a nice evening...
"My corazon, mi querido... I only see that monster there." What else could he say? It's a black blorb with a giant eye in the middle, he cannot... "If it's here, I will protect you from it, I promise."
Those two words weigh heavy on his mind, on his heart -- chest constricting painfully. He knew that memories right now were strange, but this is an entirely new extent to all of it. What exactly was he seeing? What kind of monster in place of Sunny? He swallows thickly, keeping silent for a moment. Fingers are digging into palm, and he can't meet Kel's gaze.
I'll protect you from it.
No, no no no no no no. That was Sunny. Sunny was their friend. Kel loved him. How could he not know? What kind of cruel world was this to make him forget? No matter how strained their relationship was, Kel loved Sunny. Sunny loved Kel.
"I..." He a hand upwards quickly, wiping the tears threatening to fall. "... I... I'm sorry. I'm not-- hungry."
He'll quickly try to duck away from Kel then, swallowing thickly. He had to get away. He had to calm down.
But that's what he sees. It's a black... thing. It's got long arms, ready to push reach for others and hurt them. He knows he can't usually see it, not outside rare events, but that creature is burned in his mind, it has been since it entered Basil's room in the hospital... ready to finish him, perhaps? Who knows.
He must become strong enough to protect the other, he has to make Basil happy and keep him safe. Sadly, the other seems to see a person there, which is... terryfing.
"Basil? Basil..."
Another day ruined by talks about that Thing, huh? He doesn't stop the other, but he takes mental note not to drop his guard and make sure the other doesn't get hurt, nor runs away.
"Okay.. okay. I'm going to give you space. Take Marigold and.... get your space, okay? We can talk when you feel better, mh?"
