I want to make my home safer, since I actually do like it there.

Even if you can't use magic of fight, there's many ways to help! You can help by using medicine, or encouraging others.

... A lot of people can use healing magic here, too. Is that how it is back where you are...?

Not really, back home we just have doctors and healers, but not many have healing powers.

Are healers and doctors different from each other, then?

[donfire]

I think so? Doctors seem to only work in hospitals or ships, while healers are all over.

[photographists]

I see. In this place, it might be the same...

But wow, ships? It sounds like traveling really happens a lot back where you're from... It'd be kind of nice to see all sorts of places.

Yup! There's tons of pirates, and then there's the marines who also have ships. Most places in my world are in islands! So of course, fi you wanna go somewhere else, you need a ship.

There are pirates? Doesn't that make traveling really risky?

[donfire]

Well, yeah, it's a pirate world!

Some pirates protect whole cities, or kingdoms, and so they always have some backup for travelling (with us!) and just being in their own island.

Wow... I guess every reality, or world, is really different. I always read that pirates are really dangerous...

But, I think I like the idea of them being there to help. Even if it makes it a little less adventurous...

Pirates can be dangerous but I'm not one of those ones!

it's convenient for sure!

What do you mean by "you're not one of the bad ones"?

[donfire]

oh i don't go around killing! Some really bad ones kill for money, we don't!

We take what's offered to us and protect others from those pirates!

( There's a pause before Basil responds. He hadn't been expecting that response, but it makes sense given what was said between them before. )

You're a pirate?

But -- I thought that pirates mostly looked for treasure... When you say that, it almost sounds like you're a hero...

Yeah i am.

a hero? I've never been called that before! Why a hero? I still run away from marines and police!

A hero protects people, and that's what you're doing, isn't it?

At least, that's what I always thought a hero was...
